DULUTH/SUPERIOR - The Packers made the trip across the bridge Sunday as they
faced the Vikings in the second border battle of the season. Entering today's
game, the Packers sat atop the NFC North, tied with the Lions, while the
Vikings were tied with the Bears at the bottom of the division.
And while Minnesota fans know postseason hopes for their Vikings
are slowly slipping away, they still had good reason to head out to the bars
and cheer their team on.
"If you're a true hard Vikings fan, you're going to
cheer them on no matter what, said Krystle Vanderwerff, a Vikings fan.
“Even if we're out of contention of getting in the playoffs,
we want to knock the Packers out,” added Brad Vanderwerff, also a Vikings fan.
In Wisconsin, Packer fans were out in full force at the bars
today as well, where they could enjoy watching the game in the company of
others who also bleed green and yellow.
"To me it adds so much extra to the game, because it's
such a group celebration,” said Rebecca Borgh, a lifelong Packer fan. “Every
play, every flag, every groan, every moan, it's like ah! Or it's everybody
celebrating all together. You just get caught up in the spirit of it!”
The border battle always makes for an exciting day here in The
Northland.
