Snow Emergencies Declared in Washburn & Ashland

PRESS RELEASES

Ashland, Wis. – A snow emergency has been declared within the City of Ashland beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 and continuing until City streets are cleared of snow.

The snow emergency has been declared in anticipation of the snowstorm forecast by the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Chequamegon Bay area beginning 6 a.m., Monday, November 10th and continuing through Tuesday.

Weather Service predictions are that Ashland will receive between 8" and 18" of snow Monday morning and Tuesday.

During a snow emergency, parking is prohibited on all City streets to permit public works snow removal crews the ability to clear snow from streets efficiently and with minimal interference.

During the snow emergency plow crews will be scheduled as snowfalls dictate.

Residents are requested to honor the public street parking prohibition and be patient while streets and alleys are cleared Monday and Tuesday.

Following the storm and the clearing of the streets, odd-even winter parking rules will be in effect, with parking permitted on even-numbered sides of the streets on even days and on odd-numbered sides of the streets on odd days.

Meanwhile, a snow emergency has also been declared for the City of Washburn starting at 12:00PM (Noon) Monday and will remain in effect until at least through 8:00 AM, Wednesday, November 12, 2014.

A snow emergency means that all vehicles must be removed from all City streets, alleys, and parking lots.
