Man Arrested in Floodwood for Stealing Car and Atv
FLOODWOOD - On October 20th 2014, at approximately 7:39 a.m., the Floodwood Police Department responded to a report of a car in the ditch just north of the intersection of Hwy. 73 and First Avenue in Floodwood.
The vehicle, a 2002 Bonneville had been reported stolen from the City of Duluth on October 19th, 2014. The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene.
Police received several reports of a suspicious man knocking on doors asking for assistance to leave the area.
Police then received a call of a stolen ATV from a garage in the City of Floodwood.
Floodwood Police, with assistance from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, and Minnesota State Patrol apprehended the suspect, a 38 year old Solon Springs, Wisconsin man who was taken into custody on an ATV trail after a short pursuit in Ness Township.
The matter has been referred to the St. Louis County Attorney's Office. Formal charges are expected today October 22, 2014.
