PINE CITY - The Pine County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigating following the discovery of human remains near Pine City.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the State Archeologist and a forensic anthropologist are assisting with the investigation.
Around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 13, sheriff's deputies responded to a call of possible human remains found underground at a construction site in the 15000 block of Sunset Trail, west of Pine City.
It appears the remains have been at that location for several decades.
Authorities are on the scene at this hour and are in the process of removing the remains and attempting to determine whether the location is a historical burial site or something else.
Anyone with information about the remains is asked to contact the Pine County Sheriff's Office at 320-629-8380.
