Walk Held to Support Families Affected by Suicide

CARLTON- Hundreds of supporters took to the streets in Carlton to raise awareness for a once taboo issue.

At the 6th annual Suicide Memorial Walk in Carlton more and more people are trying to provide an open, safe space for families to deal with and find support regarding depression and suicide.

Text For Life grant coordinator, Meghann Levitt said, "suicide is the second leading cause of death of young people in Minnesota and ranks really high as we go up in the age spectrum too so we know that it's an important issue, it's so far reaching. It touches a lot of people."

The walk also creates a space to remember those who've died by suicide.

It allows survivors of suicide to share their story and help others.

If you are interested in helping or learning more, you can find information on the Carlton County Suicide Prevention task force here
