SUPERIOR - What is a now a vacant football field behind the Billings Park Civic Center could soon be home to a new dog park next spring. The Superior Jaycees is working with the city to build Superior's first dog park. The Jaycees will be funding 75 percent of the project with the other 25 percent to be raised from the community. In finishing the final stages of the project, the Jaycees want to hear feedback and suggestions from the public. The group hopes the park brings positive energy to the city."It's something positive for our community that we are able to kind of give back to the community and our name can be associated with something that families and individuals can use," said Amber Pedersen, president of Superior Jaycees. "We came to this when emotions were kind of running high with the animal shelter issue that happened back earlier this year with the city in thought that a dog park would be something positive to kind of create some positive energy in Superior."The city council will have the final say on the plans in a meeting Oct. 21.
