Plans Move Forward For Belknap Reconstruction

SUPERIOR- Plans to reconstruct Belknap Street are moving along as the pavement continues to deteriorate.The road will be under construction in 2017 for improvements from Banks Avenue to Hill Avenue.The new plans include adding more left-turn lanes and safety medians.  There will also be added bus turn-outs, a bike lane, and new traffic signals.Andy Stensland, with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation says, "It's road construction. It'll be tough. There will be some back–ups. There will be some alternate routes marked around town for trucks and things, but there will be one lane open in each direction -- unlike Tower Avenue."WisDOT is asking the public for comments and suggestions on the plans for Belknap. Construction will begin in the spring of 2017.
