Harvest Fest Celebrates Youth
By:

DULUTH - Strawberry pancakes, rhubarb jam and squash casserole were just a few dishes prepared by local youth.
Northlanders got to sample savory and sweet treats at Woodland Hills Harvest Fest Friday.
Youth from the non–profit's residential and day treatment programs made the food with seeds they grew and nurtured for the last six months.
Staff tell FOX 21 the project teaches kids life skills and can also be therapeutic.
"It's so important because they learn about themselves, their strengths,” Woodland Hills husbandry specialist Anne Macaulay said. “Everyone has assets that are valuable and this helps them to discover it."
Woodland Hills offers mental health and behavior treatment programs for marginalized youth.
Right now they are in need of volunteers.
