DULUTH - The DECC has a new system to help the hearing impaired have a better experience at the Symphony Hall.
It's called an Audio Induction Loop. It uses an electromagnetic field to send sounds directly into hearing aids that use a t-coil.
In the past, the hearing impaired have complained about the muffled sounds.
DECC officials say the new system should make things sound more clear. It cost the DECC thousands to put it in, but they say it's worth it to give everyone the same experience.
"We're trying to keep up with the times here basically and it's giving everybody a fair shot at hearing all the great sounds that we have here at Symphony Hall," explained DECC assistant building services supervisor, Phil Mcloughlin.
DECC officials say investing in the hearing system is their way of advancing technology while preserving the historical venue.
