BROOKSTON - Firefighters spent nearly 10 hours fighting a fire at the Stonehaven Assisted Living Center.
It broke out around 3 p.m. Monday.
When crews got to the scene the building was up in flames.
They were able to put it out around midnight, but were back on the scene again Tuesday morning.
"Due to the cement walls, with the heat retention inside and the safety aspect of not going in the structure, being unstable, we had a couple rekindles," said Chris LaGraves, a firefighter on scene.
No one was inside when the fire broke out and no one was injured.
The building is ruled a total loss.
The state fire marshal is investigating.
