Bentleyville Ends With Higher Donations Despite Cold
By:
DULUTH - While the nasty cold affected attendance at Bentleyville Tour of Lights by more than 30,000, there was a surprising turnout in donations.
Founder Nathan Bentley told FOX 21 Wednesday that more than 10,000 pounds of food was collected compared to 8,000 last year.
And as for toys, more than 1,500 were collected compared to roughly 1,200 last year.
Meanwhile, the Bentleyville crew is already talking about next year.
"There's already drawings on my desk for Santa hats and other things that are going to start happening. Absolutely! It takes that long to get an event of our size ready for the following year," said Nathan Bentley, founder of Bentleyville.
Volunteers are still needed to help take down this year's displays.
