Lane Closures Expected Along 4th St. for Duluth Project

PRESS RELEASE

DULUTH - Traffic will be reduced to one lane beginning Tuesday along 4th Street in Duluth between 6th Avenue East and Wallace Avenue for work that is being done in preparation for the reconstruction of the road, which is set to begin in 2016.

The lane closures are expected to last through the end of the week while soil borings are done along the roadway.

To minimize travel delays to the public, crews will focus efforts on the areas with highest traffic counts during off-peak travel times.

As part of a joint project with the City of Duluth, the St. Louis County Public Works Department will be reconstructing nearly two miles of 4th Street through Duluth's East Hillside.

The soil borings are needed as part of the preliminary design work for the project.
