DULUTH- A familiar piece of art has a new home near Duluth's waterfront.
The Siskowet bench used to be down on Harbor Drive, but it was damaged by wear and tear and weather.
The bench has been refurbished and now will sit at the entrance of the Great Lakes Aquarium.
Great Lake Aquarium director, Jack LaVoy said, "It's going to be fun, it's going to be fun to enjoy. It's very whimsical and so it's fitting to have it near the entrance to the aquarium, and we can always use an additional few spaces to sit for visitors so it's not only a piece of art, but it's also a practical working piece of outdoor furniture."
The bench is an artist interpretation of an air mattress with some fish, and a beautiful bronze rendering of Lake Superior.
Aquarium personnel say the move is not only great for the aquarium, because it will add to their collection of art, but also the location will help protect the sculpture.
