Rain Helps Dry Conditions

DULUTH - After seeing rain Sunday night, we have cleared our dry stretch this past week.

We are now looking at another week of beautiful but dry weather.

High pressure is fairly typical in the Midwest for mid to late summer.

The weather tends to get very dry and we get very little precipitation.

Before Sunday night's rain, we were just an inch below normal.

Our last decent rainfall was on July 29 where we saw only .39 inches of rain, making it one of our longest dry stretches of weather.

Our last measurable amount of rain was seen Sunday and Monday and brought a total of just over a 1.5 inches of rain.

"Normally about this time in August were about and 1.5 and with the inch of precipitation we had over night that brings us back to around normal," said Carol Christenson, with the National Weather Service.

In Duluth, we saw a little more than one inch of precipitation Sunday night alone, leaving us right at an inch and a half of rain for the month of August thus far.
