OSHKOSH - People in the aviation business say the EAA AirVenture Show in Oshkosh is like Christmas for them. "Everybody here has the same passion, the passion for flight, the passion for airplanes," Cirrus Aircraft CEO and Co-founder Dale Klapmeier said. "We all want to see the world in 3D."
People at Cirrus say the show is about business and showing off the latest and greatest, but more importantly it's about joining in on that passion and helping others get involved."They see the airplanes, they learn about what they can do with an airplane, they go home brochures next to the bed, you know, dreaming about it. Pretty soon the phone's ringing saying 'I want to get into aviation,'" Klapmeier said.
It's a lifestyle people like Carl Larson who's now on his sixth Cirrus jet connected with a long time ago."We use it in business quite a bit, and my son bought one of my previous Cirrusses, so we fly often together," Larson said. "Cirrus is a real travelling machine."
That's "the Cirrus Life" as the company calls it.
It's partly about the brand, but also about the excitement that builds and grows at places like the Oshkosh Airshow."You see the old airplanes, military airplanes, WWII fighters, antiques, things that make this industry so interesting and this show in particular," Kalpemeier said. "It is an experience that you will never forget."
The 2014 EAA AirVenture show in Oshkosh runs through Aug. 3.
