A Carlton Annual Celebration Marks Milestone

CARLTON - No matter rain or shine locals came out to show just how proud they are to live in Carlton."Carlton Daze, we don't miss this for anything," said Judy Johnson. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the event paying homage to Carlton’s history. "This little town was originally Northern Pacific junction,” Carlson Area Chamber of Commerce Vice President Julianne Emerson said. “It started as a regular town in a hobo area and it's been known for that for a long time." Up and down Carlton’s main drag you can find endless entertainment and activities, yummy eats and homegrown businesses at the farmers market. "I've got afghans and crochet towels," said Jonell Osterman. Osterman recently started her business to honor her late son who died from leukemia."We've made this a family thing trying to make money to help out the family," said Osterman. While the event has so much to offer, “The food and the people and the car show," said Chad Erickson.The fan favorite seems to be, "The parade,” said Johnson. “The kids love the candy they always give so much candy and stuff out here." Carltonians aren’t the only ones coming to this three day festival. "We're so excited to have people in town a lot of reunions take place this weekend,” said Emerson. “That's a really big deal for people who come in from all over the county to attend the event." So whether you live in Carlton or moved away one things for sure."So you’re proud to be a Carltonian?” asked FOX 21’s Maya Holmes. "Absolutely, you bet," said Emerson."We have everything that it has to offer, water we have the bike trails,” said Emerson. “We have just a tight knit community that will do anything."
