Former Long-Time Iron River Police Chief Dies

DULUTH - Northland law enforcement officers are mourning after the death of Iron River's former and long-time police chief, Rick Zenz.

Zenz, who after roughly15 years retired from the force bout five years ago, died over the weekend while saving another man's life in Jackson County.

Authorities said Zenz helped rescue a driver from a burning car after a horrific accident.

Zenz later collapsed and died on the scene.

Funeral arrangements were pending Monday.
