HERMANTOWN - Monday evening, a dozen volunteers gathered at a local wood shop to build the beds for the new Steve O'Neil Apartments.
Over the next four months, volunteers will put together 68 beds that will help furnish the new low-income building.
All the materials including wood and the space have been donated making the cost of the beds essentially free.
"We're making all the beds which they estimated about $43,000,” said Mike Koppy with the Duluth Woodworkers Club.
Tuesday evening, CHUM is having a nail pulling party to clean up the used and donated pieces of wood.
