'Pick Your Own' Berry Season Coming Up in Bayfield

BAYFIELD - Summer is in full swing and local farms are getting ready for the fruitful season.

Highland Valley Farm is well known for their 10 acres of blueberries, but also have just under 1 acre of raspberries.

You can taste their sweet berries at places like the Duluth Grill, and some Whole Foods stores, or you can pickyour own fresh fruit right off the shrub.

The average raspberry season is in the middle of July, though the late spring is pushing it back a couple weeks.

The farm is aiming for blueberry and raspberry season to start on July 25th.

They tell us, the amount of rainfall so far this summer has been just the right amount, and the drying time between rainfalls is helping as well.

The first couple weeks of August are peak time for picking your own berries, but you can always pick them before or after that.

Highland Valley Farm says this year is shaping up to be a really good year, and they will have a lot of fruit on the bushes for the 'Pick Your Own' season.
