Train Kicks Off Season With First Ride

DULUTH- The Lake Superior & Mississippi railroad kicked off their season today.
The train takes the same route as the original Northern Pacific rail line did, back in 1870.
The just over an hour and half train ride connects riders with the beautiful scenery on the St. Louis River.
Conductor, Joel Manns said, "we have a variety of wildlife. Turtles, blue herons. We can see the geese, we saw a beaver this morning. There's an eagles nest. Just a larger variety of wildlife and there's some beautiful scenery, and it's a relaxing hour and forty minute ride."
The conductor tells us taking the train is a great way to connect with our history as well.
He says trains built our nation and most people do not ride them anymore.
