DULUTH - The Glensheen Mansion has some new house guests buzzing around the property.
Two hives full of honey bees arrived Monday.
The goal is to educate Glensheen visitors about the importance of bees. They'll also help pollinate plants around the property, and produce a special Glensheen flavored honey.
"These bees will produce honey based on the flavor of our estate,” explained the interim director of the Glensheen, Dan Hartman. “These are the only honey bees as part of Lake Superior that are adjacent to Lake Superior."
Lake Superior Honey and the Glensheen will eventually jar the honey and sell it at the mansion.
