Last Minute Shoppers Hit Local Retailers

DULUTH - As the clock ticked toward Christmas, last-minute shoppers were making a mad dash for the mall."Cause we didn't have the time," last-minute shopper Abigail Richison said.

Some shoppers told us Thanksgiving falling so late on the holiday calendar, busy work schedules and time consuming responsibilities are to blame for their last-minute purchases.

"With 7 kids it's kind of hard to get it all done in a couple of weeks," last minute shopper Allison Eider said.

"Just procrastinate,” said Jeff Hakamaki. “I got 365 days to do it and I’ll do it on the 364th day."

"I woke up this morning I realized tomorrow was Christmas, I thought it would be appropriate to get my kids some gifts so here we are,” last minute shopper Alex Gutterman said. “I live in the moment I don't plan very often, I enjoy what's right in front of me."

Even though they procrastinated, there's is a method to their madness.

"I give it some thought you know so when I come in here I pretty much know what I'm coming after,” said Hakamaki. “So I don't have to walk around looking for all types of stuff."

"Two page list knew exactly what they wanted," said Eider.

They say today the pickings are slim, but it's been worth it because they've found some great deals.

"I got 15% off on it today,” said Hakamaki.

But the shopping doesn't stop this Christmas Eve.
