DULUTH - While there are thousands of top runners competing in Grandma's Marathon, it's really the kids who are kicking off race weekend. About a thousand kids gave it their all in the Whipper Snapper races.
Runners 14-years-old and younger ran short dashes in Bayfront Festival park.
Some of them even shared their technique with us.
"I usually just start out slow and then once I get closer to the end I get start going faster," Whipper Snapper runner Hadley Porter said.
All of the runners got a ribbon and goodie bag.
