ELY- Ely will soon be getting a new library.
Construction officially began Tuesday on the new building and is expected to be complete in November.
Officials say the new building is needed because the previous one is not handicap accessible.
Library director, Rachel Heinrich said,"It was a difficult decision for the city to make but there were a lot of challenges with our old building, particularly having to do with ADA, the American Disabilities Act."
Heinrich said in the end, the cost to upgrade their old building would have been significantly more than to erect a brand new facility.
The new building will be almost double in size, have new technologies and meeting spaces for the community.
