Xcel Energy Seeks Price Increase
By:

MINNESOTA- The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission is considering a request from Xcel Energy to increase electricity rates.
However, customers and consumer groups are raising concerns.
Xcel is seeking an increase which would amount to $123 a year for each of its one million residential customers by 2016.
Consumer groups, including AARP Minnesota say the proposed increase is too high.
But Xcel Energy says the rate hike is needed to provide safe and reliable energy.
A website is set up for folk to voice their concerns and the PUC will review those comments.
