Local Toy Store Stands Out From the Crowd

DULUTH - If you're still searching for that last-minute toy for the holidays, Explorations in downtown Duluth is where you'll find everything from classic toys to the newest educational trend.

“We really have always tried to be different than the average store,” said Explorations owner Ken Weyenberg.

After 30 years of working in a grocery store, Weyenberg never thought he would end up owning a toy store.

“We just thought it was something the community really could use and we just think it's a great store to continue in Duluth,” he said.

Explorations toy store has been nestled on the corner of Superior Street and West 2nd since the 80s.

As a longtime customer, Weyenberg took over the store eight years ago, and holds the Exploration tradition strong.

“Really almost tricking kids into thinking they're not learning but having fun,” he said. “But we really try to create fun with learning.”
