Woman Rescued From Mine Pit Fall

CHISHOLM - A 29-year-old woman is recovering in the hospital after falling into an old mine pit.
Authorities said she fell about 75 feet down the pit's enbankment early Monday evening. Crews from the Hibbing Fire Department and Chisholm rescue teams were able to reach the woman by lowering a rescue basket down to her.
After a field medical assesment, she was later air lifted to St. Mary's in Duluth with serious injuries.
A name has not been released.
Hibbing Fire, Chisholm Fire and EMS, Chisholm Public Works, St. Louis County Rescue squad, Sheriffs officers and the Minnesota State Patrol all responded to the incident.
