DULUTH - Hundreds of folks made their way up to Duluth this weekend for a highly anticipated political convention.DFLer's from all over the state filled the DECC this weekend to endorse their candidates at the 2014 DFL State Convention."This is great time to be a democrat in Minnesota," declared Governor Mark Dayton.More than 1400 delegates gathered to endorse who they saw fit."There's a lot of energy, enthusiasm and excitement around our ticket and today was a great dayday for the DFL," said Ken Martin, the Chairman of the Minnesota DFL.As expected, Governor Dayton, with his new running mate Tina Smith, and Senator Al Franken were endorsed by the party without any opposition. "Today in Duluth, it is once again my honor to accept your endorsement and I'm gonna make you another promise. I'm gonna win again in November," said Franken.A theme of Franken's speech was voter turnout from the party in the midterm election."We have to get on the doors and get on the phones and do the prosaic work of politics," said Franken.Both candidates focusing on bettering education, the environment and business opportunities for the state."There's only moving ahead. To even better than before for the best there's ever been. And it all depends on us. Thank you very much," finished Dayton.Tomorrow they'll focus on party business like discussion of platform related topics and their constitution.Republicans endorsed their candidates this weekend at a convention in Rochester.
