St. Louis Co. Sheriff's Office Welcomes Two K-9 Units to Force

DULUTH - The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office welcomed two new K-9 officers to the force Friday.
Louie and Diesel came from the Czech Republic and just wrapped up week seven of a 12 week training program.
Deputies said it will be great to have additional help in the county.
"There's not as much manpower as a police department, so a lot of times you're working on your own independently or your backups far away. It's going to be nice knowing that I have essentially another partner with me," said Deputy Sheriff Ben Fye, with St. Louis County.
Both dogs will specialize in detecting narcotics and tracking people who have gone missing and criminal suspects.
You can meet the new officers at the 'Operation K-9' event June 5 from 4:30-8 p.m. at the Amsoil Center in Superior.
The event is free, but donations to the Amsoil Northland Law Enforcement K-9 Foundation are encouraged to help cover future K-9 costs.
