Minn. Law Enforcement to Honor Lives Lost in the Line of Duty

FOX 21 News, KQDS-DT

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - In honor of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, law enforcement from across Minnesota are standing guard at the state's Peace Officers Memorial for 24 hours.

The 24-hour watch ends at 7:30 p.m. Thursday with a candlelight vigil. Honor guard units from across the state will march from across the Wabasha Street Bridge to the memorial for the service on State Capitol grounds.

In addition, the 35W and Lowry Avenue bridges in Minneapolis will be lit blue on Thursday, which is Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Day.

Organizers say the event honors the 269 police officers who have lost their lives on the job in Minnesota.

A list of fallen officers can be found on the Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association website
