Minnesota Fishing Opener Begins

DULUTH - Ice still covers many of the 10,000 lakes in the state, but that didn't stop folks from getting out on the water to catch some walleye.
The Minnesota fishing opener kicked off Saturday and Boy Scout Landing in Gary New Duluth was packed all day.
However, not many there were lucky.
Of all the fishermen we talked to only one caught a fish.
Bob Ward left with a 31 inch walleye.
"It was very, very, very slow. You know one fish today that was it. That was quite early this morning, but that's all. I never saw a single boat out there even get a net out. I didn't see any other fish caught today at all. So, I don't know. We just got lucky I guess," said Ward.
Some of the fishermen at the landing specualted the fishing might have been slow because of cold and murky water.
