DULUTH - When you think of blacksmithing, you probably think of the renaissance times.

A group in Duluth is holding the craft steady, and celebrating the opening of their own studio.

Saturday, the forging community gathered at the old Perkins next to the armory on London Road to show off their metal work, and the soft opening of their new work space.

They eventually hope to teach classes on their new forging table within the studio.

“You would use this old world craft to create art objects above and far beyond what had been created before,” explained Paul Webster. He considers himself to be a forging expert.

Their goal is to raise money to buy a ventilation system for the building so they can work inside, compared to the outside conditions they have been facing.
