Local Students Host Fundraiser for Damiano Center

DULUTH - A local fundraising event was hosted and planned by kids Wednesday.

Duluth's YMCA teamed up with Duluth schools to celebrate Global Youth Service Day.

It's part of an international effort to encourage kids to get involved in their community.

At Laura MacArthur Elementary, kids set up a carnival, made walking tacos, and created their own silent auction.

YMCA Youth Development Director Drew Jensen said, "It just really focuses on our geographic area and the importance that the students can do in their own community."

All proceeds will go to the Damiano Center.
